Your Local Winter Park Chimney & Fireplace Team

One family-owned team for everything your chimney and fireplace need in Winter Park.

Chimney Brothers Co is a family-owned chimney and fireplace company that takes care of Winter Park homeowners the way we'd take care of our own. Whether you have a wood-burning firebox in one of the historic homes off Interlachen Avenue or a prefab fireplace in a newer subdivision near Lake Baldwin, we handle the full range of work in-house: chimney repair, sweeping and cleaning, inspections, leak and flashing repair, chimney caps, crown repair, full rebuilds, tuckpointing and masonry, and fireplace repair, service, and installation.

A lot of folks in Central Florida assume a chimney that only sees a few cold nights a year doesn't need attention. The opposite is closer to the truth. Here it's the moisture, not the fire, that does the slow damage, and a flue that sits unused for most of the year is exactly where small problems hide until they become expensive ones. We'd rather catch a hairline crown crack or a tired cap now than rebuild a saturated chimney later.

When you call us, you talk to people who actually do the work and know Winter Park, not a call center. We'll walk you through what we find, give you a straightforward estimate before anything starts, and never push a repair you don't need. Free estimates, upfront pricing, and a satisfaction-backed local Florida team are the standard, not the upsell.

Chimney & Fireplace Service Built for Winter Park

Winter Park sits inland in Orange County, well away from the salt air that chews up coastal chimneys, but that doesn't mean the climate is gentle on masonry. From late spring into fall, the area gets near-daily afternoon thunderstorms and the thick humidity Central Florida is known for. That steady cycle of heavy rain, soaking, and slow drying is hard on brick, mortar joints, and crowns, and it's the single biggest reason chimneys here fail. Wind-driven rain finds its way past worn flashing and uncapped flues far more often than the occasional cold snap ever causes trouble.

We work all over the city and the surrounding area, from the older neighborhoods around Park Avenue and Interlachen, where homes still have original brick chimneys and real wood-burning fireplaces, to the growing east side around Lake Baldwin and Baldwin Park and out toward Goldenrod and Aloma. The greater-Orlando growth has filled the region with newer homes too, and those prefabricated fireplaces and factory-built chimneys have their own service needs, from chase covers and caps to crown sealing and component repair.

Much of Winter Park's character comes from its tree-canopied streets and its chain of lakes, and those big live oaks take a toll on a chimney. Overhanging limbs drop leaves and debris that trap moisture against the brick and into the crown. Older homes near the Rollins College area and the historic district often need tuckpointing and crown repair after years of that exposure, while newer builds out toward the 417 corridor more often need caps, flashing work, and a first real inspection. Whichever side of town you're on, we tailor the work to your actual chimney rather than running everyone through the same checklist.

Notice white staining or efflorescence on the brick, a musty or smoky smell after a Central Florida downpour, water spots on the ceiling or wall near the fireplace, crumbling mortar, rusted caps, or chunks of masonry in the firebox? Those are the warning signs a Winter Park chimney is letting moisture in, and they only get worse through storm season. Don't wait for the damage to spread. Call Chimney Brothers Co at (645) 224-9996 for a free estimate and same-day service when it's available.

Winter Park Chimney & Fireplace Questions

Do I really need chimney service in Winter Park if I barely use my fireplace?

Yes, and arguably more so. In Central Florida the wear on a chimney comes mostly from weather, not from burning. Our humidity and the near-daily summer thunderstorms keep masonry damp for months at a time, and a flue that sits unused all year is exactly where moisture, animals, and debris build up unnoticed. An inspection and a proper cap go a long way toward protecting a chimney you only light a handful of nights a year. Call us at (645) 224-9996 and we'll tell you honestly whether you need anything.

Why does my Winter Park chimney leak when it rains but seems fine the rest of the time?

That's one of the most common calls we get here, and it almost always traces back to wind-driven rain during the area's afternoon storms. Water gets in through worn or missing caps, cracked crowns, failed flashing where the chimney meets the roof, or deteriorated mortar joints, none of which show themselves on a dry day. We pinpoint the actual entry point and handle leak and flashing repair, cap replacement, and crown repair so it stops, rather than just sealing over the symptom. We offer free estimates, so you'll know the cost before any work begins.

My home near Lake Baldwin is newer with a prefab fireplace. Do you service those?

Absolutely. A lot of the homes on Winter Park's east side, around Lake Baldwin, Baldwin Park, and the newer developments toward Goldenrod and the 417, have factory-built fireplaces and metal chimneys rather than traditional brick. We service and repair those, replace chase covers and caps, address rust and weather damage, and handle fireplace repair and service. We also do new fireplace installation if you're adding or upgrading one. The approach is different from old masonry chimneys, and we treat it accordingly.

I have an older home near Park Avenue with original brick. What does that chimney typically need?

The historic homes around Park Avenue, Interlachen, and the Rollins College area often have original brick chimneys that have stood through decades of Central Florida humidity and storms. The most common needs we see are tuckpointing and masonry repair where mortar joints have eroded, crown repair where the top has cracked, and a good cap to keep rain and the debris from those big oak canopies out. In some cases years of moisture call for a partial or full rebuild, but we'll always start with an honest inspection and tell you what's genuinely necessary versus what can wait.

How much does chimney repair cost in Winter Park?

The most common repairs range from around $150 for a cap replacement to $5,000 or more for flue relining, with most single repairs falling in the $300–$1,500 range in Florida. What a specific Winter Park job costs comes down to chimney height, roof access and pitch, and the condition of the crown and flashing, so we give a free on-site estimate with upfront pricing before any work begins. See the full cost breakdown.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes — every job starts with a free, no-obligation on-site estimate and upfront pricing. No trip charge and no hidden fees.

How long does a typical chimney repair take?

It depends on the work. A sweep or inspection is usually done in one visit; a crown reseal, cap, or flashing repair is often same-day; a partial or full rebuild can take longer. We give you a clear timeframe with your estimate.

Do you work on prefab (factory-built) fireplaces too, or only masonry?

Both. We service traditional masonry chimneys and fireboxes as well as prefabricated, factory-built fireplace systems — including wood-burning and gas units.

My chimney failed a home inspection — can you help before closing?

Yes, that's one of the most common reasons people call us. We assess exactly what was flagged, explain what's actually needed, and give upfront pricing so you can move forward with your sale.

Do you clean up after the work?

Always. We protect the work area, contain soot and debris, and leave your home as clean as we found it — that's part of the job, not an extra.

How do I book or get a quote?

Call (645) 224-9996 or fill out the short form on this page. Same-day service is often available for urgent issues like an active leak.

How tall does a chimney have to be above the roof?

Chimneys shall extend not less than 2 feet higher than any portion of a building within 10 feet, but shall be not less than 3 feet above the highest point where the chimney passes through the roof. That is the exact wording of IRC section R1003.9, adopted verbatim as R1003.9 of the Florida Building Code, Residential. It is commonly called the 3-2-10 rule, and both conditions must be met at once, so whichever produces the greater height controls. The 10-foot measurement is horizontal and includes ridges, dormers, adjacent walls and nearby structures. Does Florida require a carbon monoxide alarm if the house has a fireplace?

Yes for new construction. Florida Statute 553.885 requires that every separate building or addition constructed on or after July 1, 2008 that has a fossil-fuel-burning heater or appliance, a fireplace, an attached garage or any other feature that emits carbon monoxide as a byproduct of combustion must have an approved operational carbon monoxide alarm installed within 10 feet of each room used for sleeping purposes, or at other locations required by the Florida Building Code. The requirement can be met with a hard-wired or battery-powered CO alarm or a combination CO and smoke alarm. The statute applies to new buildings and additions, not to existing buildings undergoing ordinary alterations or repairs. Source: Florida Statutes section 553.885, Carbon monoxide alarm required
